Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, features 150 slot machine games and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that features numerous conveniences accompanying the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
