Despite the reality that online betting is now a billion dollar industry, and countless thousands of additional bettors around the world log in daily to play at online casinos, there are still millions of new players to the world of online betting who do not as yet have a clear understanding of a lot of the terminology used in online gambling, and wagering on athletics in general. Notwithstanding, understanding of these terms is indispensable to interpreting the games and rules of wagering:
ACTION: Any type of bet.
ALL-IN: In poker, all-in means a gambler has deposited all of their chips into the pot. A side pot is created for the gamblers with additional money.
ALL-UP: To bet on several horses in the same contest.
ANTE: A poker term for placing a specified value of money into the pot prior to the start of each hand.
BRING-IN: A necessary wager in seven-card stud made by the player showing the lowest value card.
BUST: You do not win; As in vingt-et-un, when a player’s cards total over 21.
BUY-IN: The minimum value of chips required to get in a game or tournament.
CALL: As in poker, when a wager equals a previously made wager.
CHECK: In poker, to stay in the game and not wagering. This is acceptable only if no other players wager in that round.
CLOSING A BET: Like in spread betting, meaning to make a bet on par with but opposite of the starting bet.
COLUMN BET: To bet on any of the three columns of a roulette table.
COME BET: In craps, the same as a pass-line wager, but made after the player has arrived at his point.
COME-OUT ROLL: A crapshooters 1st roll to achieve a number, or the initial toss after a point is established.
COVERALL: A bingo term, meaning to blanket all the numbers on a bingo card.
CRAPPING OUT: In craps, to roll a two, three or 12 is an automatic defeat on the come-out roll.
DAILY DOUBLE: To select the champions of the first two events of the tournament.
DOWN BET: To bet that the outcome of an action will be lower than the lowest end of the quote on a spread bet, also referred to as a "sell".
DOZEN BET: In roulette, to wager on any of 3 groups of twelve numbers, one-12, etc.
EACH WAY BET: A athletic event bet, indicating to wager on a team or player to win or position in a game.
EVEN MONEY BET: A bet that pays the same value as gambled, ( one to one ).
EXACTA: gambling that two horses in a contest will complete the race in the absolute identical order as the bet – also referred to as a " Perfecta ".
FIVE-NUMBER LINE BET: In roulette, a bet placed on a grouping of 5 numbers, such as 1-2-3-0, and 00.
