There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is correct of most borders.
The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, highlights 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel compound that contains a number of conveniences accompanying the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
